Wooden’s Pyramid, part 5: Cooperation (Why is it better than Dictating)

Wooden's Pyramid, part 5: Cooperation (Why is it better than Dictating)

Cooperation: The Final Block

The final block in the lowest rung of John Wooden’s Pyramid of Success is Cooperation. Listening, evaluating, embracing van be a tough job for the string-willed leader, but it is the only way to leverage the collective brainpower and commitment of your group.

Cooperation is the only difference between the Leader and the Prison Guard. The only similarity between them is that both have the final say. Cooperation should never be allowed to weaken the decision muscle of the leader. In EOS, the Integrator should listen to all, but finally make a call, a decision and  take action.

Cooperation is all about sharing ideas, perspectives, tasks, responsibilities. The only think a leader doesn’t share is blame. She keeps the blame and shares the credit.
